Giant robots attacking Montevideo

Thursday, November 5, 2009

I checked out the trailer of 2012 full of special effects last week, but this video is way cooler than the Hollywood production. It’s a 5 minutes film in which giant robots are attacking Montevideo directed and animated by Fede Alvarez. Impresionante!

New music video Cuarteto de Nos – El Hijo de Hernández

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I really enjoy the new Cuarteto de Nos album ‘Bipolar’ produced by the great Juan Campodonico. The video for El Hijo de Hernández by Charly Gutierrez makes me love the band even more. C’mon, I know you love it too!

Nike x Livestrong Chalkbot

Friday, July 31, 2009

Developed in partnership with DeepLocal and StandardRobot, the Chalkbot sprayed messages of hope and inspiration on the French roads during one of the Tour de France stages. It was part of the campaign supporting the Livestrong Foundation of Lance Armstrong. People could send their messages by phone of tweet them. An original way of remixing tradition (the classic chalk messages on the roads during the Tour de France), new media, technoloy and inspiration. An example of what I call ‘digital thinking in an analog world’. The results are amazing.

Fausta Diseño: Beautiful Argentinean Design

Fausta header

For a long time now I am a fan of the beautiful work of Argentinean communication and (digital) design studio Fausta from Buenos Aires. I am very impressed by the Latin American design in general and in this case specifically Argentinean graphic design. To me it combines an incredible creativity with a colorful simplicity. Fausta is a young studio which combines this design with new views on communication. Fausta is formed by María Luisa García Collazo, Karen Brownell and Sabrina Prieto Blanco.

I could not wait to work with them and my new personal website is the first result of this collaboration. But there is more to come and this will be challenging project for El Desafio Foundation.

And you thought Scrabble was boring?

Friday, May 1, 2009

I honestly think it’s one of the coolest board games, but the classic Mattel game invented by Alfred Butts might have a nerdy image. Till now! Watch the 3 ads by Ogilvy & Mather Paris and animated by Wizz and it will change your mind. I would never have expected these quite artistic video’s for a product like Scrabble. But isn’t it great when advertising surprises you? Very R-E-F-R-E-S-H-I-N-G; that’s 17 points word value and 50 points bonus. Calculate it with the Scrabble Score Calculator.

Thanks to CR Blog; I had to use their title.

A musical journey through Lisandro Aristimuño’s Argentina

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

During my high school period I wrote a paper on naturalism in the music of the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. It might sound very abstract, but it took my attention how I could hear for example the Norwegian fjords in Grieg’s work.

Listening to Lisandro Aristimuño gives me the same experience. This 27 years old singer-songwriter was born in Rio Negro in the south of Argentina. Rio Negro is located north of Patagonia where the colorful, solemn, natural beauty is really overpowering. Aristimuño translates this beautiful landscape into very original songs. Mixing Argentina’s diverse folkloric music gently with electronics into sensitive and charateristic pop songs. It is this mix that allows you to mind travel from Patagonia to Buenos Aires and beyond. It’s really original music that deserves to be heard by a wider audience.

Great news is that Aristimuño will be playing in Antwerp on Wednesday May, 6th in the Arenberg. This is one of the few times he is performing in a non Spanish speaking country, so don’t miss it. Oh, and for the €12 you will get to hear Anne Hukkelberg too. She is from Norway, the country of the fjords.

For now, sit back, watch some pictures of Patagonia and enjoy Aristimuño’s Argentina.

Date: Wednesday May, 6th 2009
Time: 20.30hs Kleine Zaal
Place: Arenberg, Antwerp
Price: € 12

Nike presents Onwards by Jarvis & Kenworthy

Friday, April 24, 2009

onwards_still_03

This following movie was created by illustrator James Jarvis and Shynola director Richard Kenworthy. The film is based on Jarvis’ personal running experiences and was initiated as a personal project. Kenworthy filmed Jarvis running on a treadmill to recreate his own movements. Nike loved the work and was very interested in getting involved. Jarvis says: “Rather than a marketing project inititated by Nike, the film was something proposed and produced by myself, and as such I hope represents a much more equal collaboration with a brand.” Great way to collaborate and with a great result!

Check the movie in high resolution here.

Amazing LED art with sheep!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

A great example of merging animals and technology! The sheep play a game a Pong and even recreate the Mona Lisa. The production is made possible by Samsung to promote their LED-technology. Great example on how artists and brands can make each other stronger.
