Urban Problem Solver

If change is the only constant in life, why are we so afraid of it?

The world is changing faster than ever. Technology and new media alter the way we live and perceive our society. Climate change and fast growing cities create huge challenges for humanity. People struggle with this new reality: the growing gap between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ leave many powerless. Others pay with their mental health and feel disconnected from the promised paradise. It is time to change!

That is why I call myself a change maker, working passionately creating inclusive cities with equal opportunities for all. I believe in the power of social innovation and creativity to make this world a better place. Currently I am working on:

Happy mobility/social urban cycling ▪ tactical urbanism ▪ social work ▪ physical + mental fitness.

/ My focus

The biggest social challenges call for true innovation. As Einstein said: “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” I believe it is essential to create teams of creative people from different backgrounds who dare to dream a new reality and create real solutions.

To create change it is important we can imagine a better future. It can be very helpful to show people tomorrow already today. Tactical urbanism gives us the tools to do exactly this. Through experiments and interventions in public space we show that cities are more happy and successful when they are built for all people.

We are social beings by nature, but there is a paradox as we suffer from the same things we need: others. Living in urban spaces can bring us comfort but can sometimes be difficult as well. City life can lead to stress and loneliness. Mental health has increasingly moved into our societies focus during the last years as more and more people overcome prejudice and speak out about their struggle. With a diverse team of psychoanalysts and urbanists we explore what mental fitness is and how our cities can create (public) spaces to ask the important life questions, ultimately resulting in true urban happiness.

We can’t create solutions for a future we don’t know, but we can be prepared for the unknown.

01.  We Are Because

I founded We Are Because to work on different projects co-creating the inclusive urban future through social innovation. The last two years I focused on the social side of urban cycling and currently I am working on promoting mental fitness.

02.  Street Makers

I co-founded Street Makers together with urban planner Lior Steinberg. We believe the future of sustainable, healthy, inclusive & successful cities can be found in our streets. We accelerate the transition towards cities for people by creating the city of tomorrow – today. No time and no space to waste.

03.  El Desafío Foundation

At the age of 20 I co-founded the non-profit El Desafío Foundation, promoting youth development and local democracy in Rosario, Argentina. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last 12 years, working with a professional staff and many volunteers.
